A day in the life of… Part 1 – Stanbridge, Missiquoi

Updated 30 October 2022

Herman Farmer was in fact Amable Therrien son of Fabien Therrien and Marie Delinelle.

A day in the life of my great-great-grandaunt Marie Anne Lagassé…

Marie Anne was born in Stanbridge on December 15th, 1862. This baptismal certificate is proof of who were her parents.

I have no photos of Marie Anne, although I might have one and I am not able to identify her on some.

I am sure this is her niece Lillie Lagasse, my grandfather’s sister, with her husband Eugène Dubé and two of their children.

Collection Soucy family

That’s the hypothesis I have using several photos.

This could be young Lillie.

I have identified everyone on this next photo except the older woman in the back. Could it be Marie Anne?

Lillie is the passenger in front of a Ford Model T with a 1917 Connecticut license plate. Bertha Lagassey, Lillie’s niece, is sitting on the right fender.

Here Lillie is on the extreme left with her hands on her hips.

Again Lillie with Eugène when Bertha got married. Next to Eugène Dubé is the same unidentified woman.

Again Lillie on the left in the back…

In front are Dennis Lagassey III, Lillie’s brother, Malvina Lagasse, Lillie’s sister, Anna Campbell, her husband Harry Lagasse, Lillie’s, nephew, and finally her father Dennis Lagasse II.

It took me a while to identify this woman and find her descendants after.

A day in the life of… will be an attempt to find Marie Anne’s descendants starting with this baptismal certificate.

Will the real Alexandre Lagacé please stand up? Update

August 17, 2022…
Hi!
I am a great grandchild of Mary Malvina Lagacé, how do you do?

Original post

I still don’t have proof Alexandre Lagacé, who married Philomène Ferlatte or Frelatte, was the son of Louis Minier dit Lagacé and Marie Fournier.

My interest was once again rekindled by a reader’s comment.

Here’s my best guess: Ferlatte. Philomene’s Father was Raymond and mom Henriette Stuart (Stewart?) BTW – James (aka Jacques) and Nancy (Anastasia) had 3 boys but James died in 1901. William Henry (1896); Maurice James (1898 my grandpa) and William James (1900). Nancy remarried Alexander Bertin – together they owned a “corner” store in Bathurst, NB, One more connection for the win… Philomene was married to Alexander Legace who was the son of Louis Hilarion Lagace.

If you’re new to Our Ancestors II, which is the sequel to Our Ancestors, let’s go back to what I wrote about the Ferlatte family.

The Ferlatte Family – Final Jeopardy!

Then I got this other comment…

.. as I am sure you have found in your research… with so few (other than the priests) with reading / writing skills and depending on whether the priests were French or English there are annoying variations. I just checked my records: 1. Baptism: Louis Migner dit Lagace. 2. His daughter (Lucille) death cert = Louison 3. his death record = Louison.
